The pictures of Big Sur were taken w a Nikon N80 camera. I also tried my new 80-200 mm/f2.8 Nikon lens in combination with a Tamron SP AF 1.4X tele-converter which I used to capture the close-ups of the seals and sea otter in Monterey bay.

Big Sur is about two and a half hours away from our home. On our way to Big Sur we stopped at Point Lobos state reserve. I photographed some old cypress trees, seals and the coastline.

On our way to Big Sur we crossed Bixby bridge. The bridge can be viewed from many vista points along route 1. This is a mid-afternoon shot on a very windy day.

Which way is North? We hiked a trail that starts at the Bixby bridge and runs along an unpaved road. The old coast road runs for 10 miles but we turned around after a couple of miles.

We spent two days at the Big Sur Lodge, conveniently located within the Pfeiffer Big Sur state park. The only downside was lack of TV or phone.

On our way to Monterey we made a brief stop at Garrapata beach. The sun was trying to peak through a very cloudy and foggy sky. I captured this moment which lasted for about five minutes before the sun went into hiding again.

We enjoyed a beautiful sunset at the "hard to find" Pfeiffer Beach.
