A sunrise picture of the tufas in Mono Lake. I used a Singh-Ray Gold-N-Blue Circular Polarizer in this picture to enhance the blue skies and the tufas. All pictures in this album were taken with the Nikon D70S camera and the Nikon 17-55mm f2.8 lens.

The "tufa castle". On this particular day and at this angle this tufa formation reminded us of a Scottish castle on a deserted island.

Sometimes the lighting and angle at which you see the tufas makes them resemble familiar shapes. We like to call this picture the "tufa camel".

Bodie, a state historic park is about half an hour north of Mono Lake on route 395. We spent an afternoon photographing this gost town.
